I believe a beautiful portrait captures the essence of the subject. It's the light in their eye, the tilt of their head, and the angle of their shoulders. Sometimes it's the way two people look at one another, or how a group's dynamics come alive.

   I believe an excellent professional portrait can reveal more about subjects than even they know. Portraits can reflect true beauty, strength of spirit, and even mental fortitude.

   It's all about being comfortable during the photography session. It's finding the perfect pose and using the best lighting. It's knowing what you want in a photograph and putting my years of experience to work achieving that. It's capturing this moment in time - in a dynamic  and personable way - that will will last a lifetime.

   Photographs evoke nostalgia and are a way for us to share our stories with generations to come. To me, being able to freeze a moment in time, and then hold it in our hands. is a special type of magic.

   I still have my very first camera sitting on my desk that was given to me when I just four- or five-years-old. I've loved taking photos all my life. That perspective has given rise to a few simple tenets:

   I have worked as a professional photographer since 1980. In 2005, I opened my own private studio, Thinking of You Photography, because I wanted the freedom to focus on the client, spending as much time as needed, and being able to take/create photos that delight the client.

   I enjoy the many advancements in technology, tools, and methods that have made photography accessible to all of us in recent decades. But when it comes to milestones and those special moments we want to hold forever, my professional photography offers something a smartphone, and a "good camera" cannot.
